3 Quick Tips To Attract More Students to Your College Or University

3_Quick_Tips_to_Attract_More_Students_to

Students are the lifeblood of every institution of higher learning. Without students, there'd be no institution. So while college recruiter may sound like a small, meaningless job, it's actually an integral, critical piece to what keeps colleges and universities thriving. When it comes to attracting more prospective students, times have changed and the approach that propelled your growth 5, 10 years ago, won't be as effective in the digital age.

Check out these additional resources that'll help you get the most from your efforts:

How to Create Student Buyer Personas

When looking to attract more students, there are two primary goals in mind, engaging prospective students and making the application process as smooth and effortless as possible. If you want to see more bodies in classrooms, you've got to keep up.

Here are 3 quick tips to attract more students to your college or university:

1. Cut Some Checks

A wise man once said, "Show me the money." And if I'm a high school senior being courted by your institution, I want you to do just that. Knowing that a degree could come at the cost of insurmountable student loan debt can grow to be an even bigger deterrent for students who come from families that can't just quite cover the cost of a major college or university. While many institutions offer a variety of assistance options already, the percentage gap between students that are on scholarship and those that aren't, is quite noticeable. Increase scholarship funds and disperse them through more creative contests and competitions that can help market themselves.

2. Embrace the Culture

In this growing age of what we're now calling new media, it's important to realize that the culture is changing and you have to adapt or you'll get looked over. Instead of having the same old, boring setup at recruitment fairs try some like an interactive podium that takes prospective students on digital tours of dorms and the buildings of their major classes.

3. Resist the Urge to Sell

You've got them hanging on to your every word, in the back of your mind you know it's a perfect time to drop the application. But what if you don't? What if I told you the engagement itself could guarantee that they apply and tell all their friends to as well? This generation is highly tuned in, sometimes even cynical, to the marketing noise that tries to consume them on the day to day. Let prospective students really get to know your institution and the surroundings. It doesn't take much convincing when they've already fallen in love with what you have to offer. The quality of content and engagement you offer should be enough to keep the apps rolling in.
