7 Tips to Increase Online Giving

Online Giving Now Available

Every year online giving increases. It makes sense considering that online interaction continues to grow. How do you optimize the donor's online experience and ensure a strong online giving component for your organization?

The folks at Mobile Cause have put together a handy infographic that lays out best practices to online optimization of your fundraising efforts.

Here are their 7 tips to increase online giving:

1. Have a Mobile responsive donation page.

With Google's Mobilegeddon, every page of your website should be mobile responsive. Mobile traffic is growing, with more transactions happening via mobile devices than traditional laptop & PC's. If you are after younger donors, then you must follow this best practice.

2. Branded donation pages drive more donations.

People develop brand loyalty and the sight of your brand logo and images reassure them that their donation supports the cause of their choice.

3. Include recurring gift instructions on all donation pages.

One of the key elements in any customer, client, or donor relationship is the return visit. Keep the conversation and relationship growing by creating a vehicle for future conversations.

4. Incorporate auto-fill donation fields making giving with a credit card quick and easy.

The easier you make it to receive a donation, the more likely a donor will make it. Use smart forms that will auto-fill so that donors don't waste time filling out form fields with the information you already have.

5. Make sure your payment form is secure.

We live in an age of identity theft and computer hacks. As with those old carbon credit card slips, you want your donors to know that their financial data is secure; that someone name Peggy in Russia is not emptying their bank account.

6. Use short links to easily measure donation form analytics

When it comes to campaign analytics, you want to know what is working and what is not. By making short links, tracking donation source codes becomes easy.

7. Promote donation pages via text, email, social media, and direct mail.

You're guaranteed to raise zero dollars if you never ask. Get the word out. In the digital age, it's all about promoting across all mediums, especially electronic. Direct mail isn't dead. Add QRE codes that can be scanned with a smart device making it even easier to make a donation.
