Misconceptions About Social Media

There are many misconceptions about social media. Today I will shed some light on the truth.

Topics: Social Media

Social media use has steadily been increasing over the years. It has become an important method of communication for businesses. So, why aren't all businesses present on social media? Believing the myths will only make it more difficult to be successful.

Don't believe everything you hear. I am here to shed light on the truth of social media.

1. Everyone should be on every social network.

Not true. Every network has a different purpose, so you need to determine what your goals are for your social networks. If you are a makeup brand you may lean towards Pinterest while a restaurant will do better on Instagram.

2. You have to constantly be online to manage your social media accounts.

This doesn't even seem feasible. No one has enough time to be consistently active on their accounts all the time. That's why there are management tools for scheduling, such as Hootsuite.

3. You should expect results immediately.

Great things take time, right? It takes a while to build your online social presence. Keep in mind that it's a marathon, not a sprint.

4. The more you post, the better.

This will actually be worse for you. Don't post just to be posting. Keep your posts valuable. It is better to have valuable posts spaced out rather than posting just anything every hour.

These are just a few of the many misconceptions people have about social media. Let us know what misconceptions you've heard. We're here to help!
