New Year, new social media updates!!
I, for one, am pumped for what's in store for 2018.
Snapchat seems to be struggling a bit. They are looking for ways to grow and reportedly have a new option to launch "Stories Everywhere." aka you'd be able to post your snaps outside of the app. This moved away from the appeal of disappearing stories. We will sit and wait as Snapchat evolves.
NEWSFLASH: Facebook is already incorporated in your every day life, but it may become even more prominent. Say what?! Facebook plans to release a Video Chat Device this year. Reported by Cheddar, Facebook is looking to launch a device called 'Portal' and will be unveiled at Facebook's annual F8 conference in May, with plans to ship in the second half of 2018. Essentially it would be voice activated and allow video calls with a large touchscreen, wide-angle camera and able to recognize your face (no surprise we've had this on our smartphones for the past few years) for $499! I'll keep you updated on this one. I, for one, am very interested.
Facebook will now start showing how many times your page posts a day. This could provide a better understanding of the best time for you to post.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has committed his personal 2018 challenge to Facebook. He has committed to fixing these "important issues." Overall, Zuckerberg wants Facebook to be a place for positive usage and be able to improve Facebook's policies to reflect that by protecting the community.
Cheers to you Zuckerberg!
Facebook has announced their virtual assistant service M is no longer happening. Two year of testing on 2,000 people in California and it didn't make the cut. For those of you who don't know, M could do everything - make purchases, negotiate, and even draw requested pictures!
While the idea was definetely cool, a scaled down version- M Suggestions - will stay.
Google is introducing a new Smart Display platform. Google Assistant speakers will now come with a screen. Check it out! ⇣⇣
