It's been a long week. Am I right? Social media did not take a break this week (Does it ever?). What's the news?Let's take a quick look at all your favorite social media channels.
We usually start with Facebook. So, let's just keep it consistent. It appears we may be getting closer to a downvote option for comments. This will open up a whole new way to interact with content on the platform and will give Facebook more indication of audience interest. Although we still have no idea when this will roll out, I will keep my eyes peeled. 👀
Facebook Camera will reportedly soon let you take a photo and using AR technology, turn them into Instagram Boomerang GIFs. All of this at your fingertips. technology is pretty wild.
“We wanted to give people an easy way to create with augmented reality and draw in the world around them.”
John Barnett, a Facebook Camera Product Manager, said.
QR Codes. Love them or hate them? I personally realize their benefits but never use them. These scannable code images will be available to use for Facebook pages, creating a new way to promote your account. I am VERY interested to see how this takes off. I think I would actually use it. Users will be able to use the link to.....
- Like the page
- Check in
- Connect to a recommendation
- View fffers
- Review page
I am not sure that I would want it to automatically like a page for me, but a link that leads users straight to a review page could remove a barrier to entry.
Did you notice that Instagram added a new Instagram account? This one is called @design, and it showcases work from Instagram's creative team and emerging artists. I instantly followed it and am looking forward to seeing all of the creative content that is posted here!
As explained by Instagram:
“On @design, we’ll go behind the scenes with emerging designers and creators at home, in their studios, and at global festivals to learn about their craft. We’ll also explore our creative process at Instagram – from how we define problems, to our prototyping tools, to AR simulations, to weekly team critiques, and more.”
SNAPCHAT
Build your own face-altering Lenses! This includes more complex video effects and allow you to get even more creative.
Also in case you missed it, Snapchat has finally gone back to chronological stories and for that I am thankful. 🙌
