Back for more This Week in Social Media? It's hard to stay away when you're staying on top of the latest trends.
LET'S GET STARTED!
Facebook is slowly adding new stickers to their story options! This isn't too new because Instagram has the same type of sticker options, but it is new to Facebook.
Still it seems people haven't really started using Facebook stories, or at least my Facebook friends haven't. What about yours?
If you use Facebook Messenger, you will be able to send and receive 360 photos and HD videos. This is in an attempt to "make your conversations on Messenger more extraordinary." Share away!
In ad news, Facebook is removing the option to use third-party provided data. Facebook said,
“We want to let advertisers know that we will be shutting down Partner Categories. This product enables third party data providers to offer their targeting directly on Facebook. While this is common industry practice, we believe this step, winding down over the next six months, will help improve people’s privacy on Facebook.”
This news is not really shocking with all the attention Facebook has been getting recently regarding storing information.
Since the massive algorithm update, businesses that use only Facebook have seen a huge drop in reach. Businesses that use Facebook and other platforms to publish their content aren't seeing as dramatic of a decline in reach. Keep spreading your content around to ensure you are reaching your audience!
Pinterest is taking a cool approach to the way we discover content on this platform. You still have the normal 'Home' which gives you content you may be interested in. Now we also have the 'Following' Tab. In this tab you can discover ideas from the people that you specifically follow. You can now find me switching back and forth between tabs for hours.
ICYMI- Snapchat hid a million Easter eggs on their Snap Map on Easter.
I am telling you about this because I didn't even realize it was a game. You competed with friends to unlock the most World Lenses in this geocaching game. How cool is that?! I expect this to happen again, so I am on the lookout. You should be, too!
Virtually hang out with your friends from anywhere on Snapchat now!
“Today, we’re making Chat even more fun. Now you can video chat with up to 16 of your friends at one time. Just tap the video camera icon in a Group Chat to get your friends together! Friends in the Group Chat will receive a notification inviting them to join.”
