Presidential debates? Stand up comedy? Concerts? Interviews? What do these all have in common? They are best when viewed live!
A lot has changed in the world of technology, but the popularity and demand of live video has remained constant. However, the rise of mobile usage and the dominance of social media has now positioned social videos as the main platform used for streaming content.
With that being said, if you are reading this blog then I'm confident you are somewhat familiar with Facebook Live Streaming. If not, here is a quick (ish) breakdown.
Facebook Live is a live-streaming video functionality. You have the ability to broadcast live videos at any time and any place via your smartphone (phone service permitting) for up to 90 minutes. It is available to all pages and profiles on Facebook, including Facebook groups and events.
Since its release, Facebook has introduced multiple new features. One, is the ability to schedule your event a day in advance. Your friends will be notified that morning and again an hour before the broadcast as a reminder to check in. When you conclude, your video auto-saves to your timeline so that anyone who missed your live stream can view it at their convenience! You can also see live reactions, invite friends to join the entertainment, add filters, and see the metrics at the end. Anyone loving this?
Now that you know the what, we can talk about the why.
Why is Facebook Live a great tool for marketers? Lets begin with the facts. In general, one third of all online activity is spent watching live videos. On average people spend three times longer watching live videos than non-live videos. Also, when it comes to Facebook, 26 percet of users are interested in watching live-streams broadcasted by brands or companies.
However, the most critical Facebook marketing element is the organic reach you receive from these live videos, a.k.a. free boosting! Besides the facts, Facebook Live videos also gives companies and brands the opportunity to really show their consumers their raw and authentic side. This is something that more and more customers are looking for in brands—not just the polished uniform content presented by every other company.
Sum it all up
All in all, its safe to say there are plenty of reasons why Facebook Live is the perfect content strategy for any company, big or small. It’s convenient, simple, and effective, something that cannot be understated. So, if you haven’t tried Facebook Live yet, now's your chance. Good luck my social marketing gurus, now let your creativity fly!
