Happy Friday! You successfully made it through another week full of social media updates. Instead of spending your day searching for the latest news, I’m here to bring it to you.
You’re welcome.
Snapchat
Snapchat released a filter feature that recognizes what’s being snapped, and provides you with a relevant border or sticker. This is an easier way to decorate your snap if you’re not that creative. I am a fan of these “smart filters.
Snapchat is also looking to ad two new ad formats to their app. Promoted stories appear in stories screams in between the people you actually follow. AR Trial Ads allow the users to place 3D products onto real world scenes.

Facebook has confirmed they are experimenting with a messenger streaks option. Obviously this will spark engagement on this platform because people are intrigued with seeing how high they can keep their streak. I think we’ve seen this somewhere before… on Snapchat.
Facebook wants you to reach your goals!! This product is called Mentorship and Support and will connect mentors with users for advice. “The ultimate goal of the Mentorship and Support tool, he added, is to make it easy for anyone to either volunteer to be a mentor or ask for one.”
On a more serious note, Facebook has rolled out AI to detect suicidal posts before they get reported. The AI flags worrisome posts in hopes to decrease how long it takes to send help and save lives.
On #GivingTuesday, the Facebook community raised over $2 million! The idea of this is after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it is time to give back. Facebook encourages donations and partners with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, who matched the first $2 million donated.
Doodle on your friends face and send it back! Instagram is encouraging creativity in a new way to edit the pictures that are sent to you via direct message. Decorate the picture however you would like or send it back with a picture of yourself. All in fun there’s so many creative things you can do to “remix” the pictures.
Apple
Apple just released the iPhone X. They also announced on social media that they just patented a foldable smartphone. That’s all. A foldable smartphone. It seems like we’ve done that before… I’m not doubting Apple though, show me that bendable screen!
Tweet of the Week
That’s all I have! Did you see something MAJOR that I missed?? LMK, lizzie@sociallyin.com
