Traveling Through The Networks

We all love an adventure, it’s exciting, it’s new, it’s peaceful yet full of surprises.

Well, social media is the exact same way. It can be scary when just starting out, overwhelming, and full of information that can be too much to digest if you’re not careful.  Much like traveling, social media is also an exciting adventure once you get started and find your way.  It can help you meet people, grow your brand, and go places you never thought you’d be able to reach.

This blog series, Traveling Through the Networks, will help you understand the importance of social media and how it can relate to traveling, which many of you are familiar with.

First thing first, here is an infographic to help you visualize where you are, and if you need social media consulting. Times are changing, and it’s time that you realize how social media and it’s inbound marketing aspects will help your marketing strategy.

Okay, so hopefully you completed the infographic with the want to complete a social media plan for your company. Similar to traveling, you need to get your things to gather prior to departing on a trip.

The first thing you’ll do when planning a big adventure is determining your destination, and purchasing the tickets. In social media terms, this is the same as deciding what your goals are, and how you’re going to get there. You need to look within your brand and see what destination will bring the most benefit.  Which route are you going to take in order to get there? Are you going to buy your ticket independently, or are you going to use an agency (preferably)? This is all about gathering information and determining what’s best for you.

After you have established your ideal destination, and purchased your tickets, you are going to need a passport.  This can be a long, drawn out process; however, in the end it’ll allow you to leave the country and become an international traveler. In relation to social media, your passport could resemble your strategy for social media success, allowing you to venture into all different social media cultures.

Alas, you have your plane ticket, your passport, now it’s time to get your suitcase.  The suitcase you decide on will be viable for what all you’re planning to pack. Will you bring more than one suitcase, or will you try to cram all of your things into one? Comparable to social media, will you put all of your information into one social media network, or will you use multiple networks? It’s important to figure out which channels you’re planning on working with.

The purpose of this series is to help you determine how you’ll implement social media into your marketing strategy. The following two segments will allow you to assess your content and discover how you will soar through the social world.
