5 New Years Social Media Resolutions to Ring in the New Year

It's almost 2020 and the beginning of a brand new decade.

We're been through a lot together this year. From social media trends to the best tools you can download to utilize your social media marketing campaigns, there's no subject we're not prepared to explain in-depth for the benefit of our audience.

However, there's still plenty of things we can learn when it comes to social media marketing, and in 2020, we want to do it with you by our side.

Starting the year off right when it comes to your social media is a huge deal breaker. And that's why today, we're going to go over five New Years social media marketing resolutions you should take advantage of as we cross over into a new year and a new decade.

So without any further delay, here's 5 New Years social media resolutions just for you. (And perfect for just starting a New Year, too!)

#1 Start Switching Things up for Each Social Platform

Or, in other words, don't post the same thing to every social media platform.

Because every channel has it's own audience and it's own set of rules, it only makes logical sense that each social post that you produce be tailored to the platform where it will be shared.

In 2020, consider doing this with the majority of your social engagement. Yes, it will take a greater investment of your time, money and energy, but in the end, it's worth it. Believe me.

#2 Publish More "Urgent" Content

At first it may seem that content that disappears, (think Snapchat and Instagram stories) would be counterproductive to a successful social media marketing strategy. However, as it turns out, the very fact that the content is going to disappear and be "lost forever" gives your content a sort of urgency, which will drive followers to engage more with your content.

Just make sure that you're publishing content that is relevant, something people can relate to and that is helpful, as well as insightful when it comes to your industry.

#3 Be More Transparent

Transparency communicates honesty and integrity in your business. In 2020, make it a point to be transparent in all of your dealings. When you mess up, (which you will. Even experienced marketers like myself make mistakes from time to time. If you're curious about some of the mistakes me and my team have made in the line of duty, check out my LinkedIn thread HERE.)

Be honest about it and find ways to make it less of an outward issue.

For example: if you make a mistake when it comes to a product or service, offering an apology and a reimbursement can go a long way in making things right. And also result in customers who want to share the good news about your company.

This year, purpose to be transparent in all that you do, and encourage your team to do the same.

#4 Encourage More User-Generated Content

User-generated content is an extremely powerful marketing tool. Most especially when it comes to the consideration stage of the marketing Flywheel. This is because when someone is considering whether your product is a good fit for them, seeing and hearing about the ways it has helped other people can help push a consideration into a done deal. After all, they may be looking for the exact results your customers are talking about.

You can encourage more user-generated content through contests, giveaways and other incentives. Even proposing a shout-out can often provide powerful results when it comes to encouraging more user-generated content.

#5 Start Going LIVE on a Regular Basis!

Live videos are exciting because they make your audience feel more involved and give them a behind-the-scenes glimpse of what they can expect from you, as well as exciting new developments in the industry, learning opportunities and more.

In 2020, I challenge YOU to go LIVE more often in the New Year, Showcasing new products, services and expertise is a great way to boost brand and product recognition, as well as get your audience excited about what you have to offer.

As we jump into 2020, I definitely encourage you to take some time to reconsider what you want out of your social in the New Year. In addition to using these five social media marketing resolutions, sit down and make a list of the things you want to change and the things you want to get rid of completely in place of new tactics and ideas. Ask your team for feedback. You'll be surprised at what you can learn from them!
